Former President Donald Trump is facing criticism once again for spreading misinformation about the ongoing legal proceedings involving Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and the case against him in Georgia.
Trump took to social media on Thursday, February 15, to assert that the case against him in Fulton County is “game over,” citing court testimony related to District Attorney Fani Willis.
“MSNBC JUST STATED GAME OVER FOR THE FAKE FANI WILLIS CASE IN GEORGIA,” Trump declared on his platform Truth Social, labeling it “another scam” orchestrated by Democrats to undermine his political career.
However, Meidas Touch Network editor Ron Filipkowski swiftly fact-checked Trump’s claim, denouncing it as a complete “lie.”
Filipkowski clarified that Trump misinterpreted remarks made by MSNBC legal analyst Caroline Polisi regarding the case.
He pointed out that Polisi merely suggested that IF allegations of Willis lying to the court are substantiated, she might be removed from the case.
This doesn’t imply that the entire case will be dismissed or that it’s “game over,” as Trump asserted. The charges could still proceed with or without Willis’ involvement.
By distorting Polisi’s specific commentary into a false claim of triumph, Trump was once again caught misleading the public.
His statement twisted the facts to create a misleading narrative that the case against him is collapsing.
However, as Filipkowski emphasized, this assertion is entirely false based on the actual content of the MSNBC segment.
The legal proceedings against Trump are ongoing, with recent court testimony further implicating him in efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss in Georgia.
Trump’s falsehoods are consistent with his extensive history of spreading misinformation for political purposes.
